Monthly Report – VP Competitions

It looks like competitions are going to be happening this year, after a mostly off-year in 2020.

We’ve already seen some success for our members this year. Cody Cannon grabbed a bronze and Pete Polczynski a gold and silver at BlueBonnet. Make sure you have Peter show you pictures of his stein for the gold winner, and ask Cody how a beer that smells like “a hot armpit” was still medal-worthy.

Entries are closed for the Kansas City Bier Meisters and Red Earth Brewers competitions, but if you have entries, the drop off deadline at High Gravity is noon on April 16 and April 21 respectively.

The next High Plains competition on the horizon is the Iowa Brewers Union (IBU) Open. Entry registration opens on May 1.

We had two members try their beers at the National Homebrew Competition (NHC). This is a tough competition with over 5,000 entries. We wish Travis Kirby (7 entries) and Peter Polczynski (2 entries) the best of luck! Results will be announced on June 19.
