January Update and News from the President

Happy New Year, FOAMers!

So far we’ve been blessed with some great weather this January and I hope everyone has been able to take advantage of it to homebrew. It’s the perfect time to start thinking about lagers for springtime and summer, or maybe a sour or saison that could use a little bit of extra conditioning. And while you’re thinking about that, it’s the best time of year to pop the tops on some of those stouts, porters, and winter warmers that occupy the corners of our beer closets and refrigerators. Speaking of which, our January club meeting theme is strong beers, so put a few of your favorites aside for this Thursday evening to share with the your fellow brewers.

If you haven’t heard about it already, FOAM is planning a beer festival for May, to coincide with the weekend before Tulsa Craft Beer Week. We are in the full planning stages now, and we’re relying on the dedication and hard work of everyone in the club to make this the best beer festival Tulsa has ever seen. We’re focusing on purchasing one-off specialty beers from all of the craft breweries in Oklahoma, but also providing a table for every homebrew club in the state. We’re even planning a VIP people’s choice winner for commercial and homebrew people’s choice. It is going to be a lot of fun, but we need YOUR help to pull it off. There will be a meeting this Sunday, January 13th, at 4 p.m., at Pippin’s Taproom for Festival planning. Please consider attending, or if you can’t make it but want to volunteer, please get in touch with me or Tim McCracken, either via the FOAM website here or at the club meeting.

I’d like to extend a warm welcome to the new FOAM Officers for 2019. Check it out here if you’ve forgotten who you elected to serve you this year. The FOAM Officers’ Meeting is going to be held this Saturday, January 12, 7 p.m. at Pippin’s Taproom. All club members are welcome to attend. In this meeting, club officers will talk about various club business and set the agenda and schedule for the current year, as much as possible.

Finally, this month’s pub meetup will be at The Willows Family Ales on January 24th, at 5:30 p.m.

See You On the Hill,
