President’s Report for November

Well November is upon us. The leaves are turning to the beautiful shades of Autumn. The days are getting shorter (I curse you, Daylight Savings Time), and brewing season is finally here. Best of all, it’s Belgian Beer Month and we are back at Hope Unitarian Church! The doors open at 7:00 and we will have our meeting at 7:30.

Hope Church currently have guidelines regarding the indoor area of the church. No more than 15 are allowed to be inside the meeting area at any given time, so we will conduct the meeting on the patio. Please respect the church’s wishes and try to avoid crowding in the inside areas. Jeff Pursley will be giving a tech talk on Belgian beer styles. I encourage everyone to bring their homebrewed Belgian beers or  commercial examples if you haven’t brewed any lately.

A reminder that we will be voting on funding for the food truck that will be at the FOAM holiday party on December 3rd. This was posted in last month’s president’s report. We are giving a $10 coupon for the attendees. This wasn’t originally in the budget and a vote is required by the attending members when we spend more than $150 in non-budgeted funds.

November is election month and we have two positions that we will vote on. The candidates for treasurer for 2021 are Travis Kirby (incumbent) and Jeff Pursley. We also have Tim McCracken and Kate Freidl running for the vacant seat of  VP of Events. Each candidate will be given an opportunity to give a speech before ballots are handed out. For those not able to attend the meeting, an absentee ballot will be emailed to members by the end of day, Tuesday, November 9th.

Also a reminder the FOAM Cup judging starts on Sunday. If you haven’t already, you need to signup to help judge! Never judged before? No worries. We will hook you up with experienced judges that will guide you through the process. To register, go to the FOAM Cup website and sign up as a judge. Once you create your account it will ask what days are are available.

There is no pub meetup in November or December.

See everyone on Thursday!
