Master Championship of Amateur Brewing and the Drunk Monk Challenge

Have you heard about the Master Championship of Amateur Brewing (MCAB)? FOAM Cup has been a part of this circuit in the past, and our members have even placed in the MCAB based on their participation in FOAM Cup and other qualifying events, including the Kansas City Bier Meisters competition. They have some sweet medals:

This is a prestigious event and I hope you’ll consider entering other qualifying competitions.

One of the upcoming events this year that qualifies for MCAB is the Drunk Monk Challenge put on by the Urban Knaves of Grain in Aurora IL. This is a great competition that takes itself very seriously. I had the pleasure to steward at a couple of these when I lived in Chicago, and they know how run a competition. They have great prizes and provide good feedback.

They limit entries at 650, and as of January 28, they are already at 238 entries!

This is not a Great Plains circuit event, so FOAM doesn’t pay for shipping. I’ll be entering some beers, and if anyone wants to get together to save on shipping, let me know at VP-Competitions@alemakers.org. Entry registration runs until March 6, which is the shipping deadline date also. The judging is conducted March 11 through March 14.
