FOAM Cup Has Launched!

After a brief hiatus, we are getting geared up to host our FOAM Cup beer/mead/cider competition again! Some details are still be worked out, but we have energized the website (FOAMCup.US) and are currently collecting online registrations as well as volunteers.

We will begin accepting entries online at 10:00AM CDT on Sunday, September 19. We have always had a great turnout by FOAM members in the best, and we anticipate that our members will step up again! We are limiting this to 500 entries, but you can enter as many times as you wish. Don’t hesitate – this could fill up fast!

Everyone has the opportunity to submit beer/mead/cider to the competition, as well as volunteer as a judge or competition steward. All BJCP certified and above judges are more than welcome, but even if you’ve not had BJCP training, we’d love to have you judge with us! You will be paired with a BJCP judge, and this is a great way to learn how to judge beers (not just your own) and learn about different styles. Even if you don’t want to judge, we can use your help as a steward, which involves making sure that the judges get the bottles they are to judge, and making sure the paperwork is complete!

Judging is currently scheduled for the week of November 15, with several smaller sessions at Pippin’s Taproom, culminating in our judging sessions on Friday evening, November 19 and two sessions during the day on Saturday, November 20. We haven’t selected a location yet for the Friday and Saturday sessions, but stay tuned! There will not be an Awards Banquet this year, but we will be holding a Awards Ceremony on the evening of the 20th.

All styles of beer, mead and cider are accepted as entries in this competition. Here is an opportunity to put your best brews up against other club members as well as brewers from around the country. Ours is one of the largest homebrew competitions and we invite you to be part of this to help us showcase our club!

Make sure you read the rules carefully on the website regarding types of containers and volumes. Drop off for entries will be at High Gravity Brewing from October 18 through November 6, so there’s lots of time to brew that beer/mead/cider that you know is going to win a medal and give you a year’s worth of club bragging rights!

This competition is part of the High Plains Competition circuit, so any medals our club members win count toward personal and club standing. Let’s have a great showing and get FOAM to the top of the list!

If you have any issues with registration or entry on the website, please don’t hesitate to contact me at VP-Competitions@alemakers.com.
