July Meeting Minutes

TCBI is September 10th! Signups are live for both volunteering and submitting your beer. Do both and build up your points towards FOAMer of the Year award! Also coming up is WildBrew on August 27th. Submit five gallons of beer so you and a guest can pour and peruse the event for free.

Next month’s theme is honey wine. Our meeting for August will be at Hope Unitarian and later in the month our Pub Mead Up will be at Dancing Skeleton Meadery in Sapulpa for the tasting room soft opening. You know him, you love him; FOAMer and Officer Alex Long is the proprietor of Dancing Skeleton. Come congratulate and celebrate this milestone.

On the subject of mead, Eric Cockerell of BOS Ranch in Broken Arrow won a 1st place in Category 40, Stone Fruit Mead at the American Homebrewers Association’s National Homebrew Competition with his tart cherry mead.

FOAMers present at the meeting also tasted and voted on their favorite Iron Brewer Beer which pits brewers against their wits with mystery ingredients unknown to them before brew day. Teams had to use at least two of four ingredients: Bananarama candies, Pilonchillo cane sugar, pineapple Kool-Aid, and canned coconut milk. Teams competing were:
Keely Fick and Daniel Vanderslice of Brew Buddies
Britany and Chester Hendershot holding dual memberships in Red Earth Brewers and FOAM
Justin Legg, Fred Schell, Eric Thiemann, and Ryan Friedl of FOAM

Keely and Daniel brewed a boozy banana coconut stout that was delicious and I’m so glad a team used the coconut milk.
The Hendershots won first place with a tasty imperial IPA that used crushed banana candies and cane sugar.
The law offices of Legg, Schell, Thiemann, and Friedl won the popular vote with their IPA that also used cane sugar and pineapple Kool-Aid.
