A big congratulations to Cody Cannon for his big win at this year’s Hoppy Halloween competition. This competition is put on by the Prairie Homebrewing Campanions of Fargo ND and it is part of the High Plains competition circuit.
Cody won with his “Square Dance” beer (28B: Mixed Fermentation Sour Beer) which snagged gold in the Sour Ale category. This was a farmhouse ale with wheat and oat adjuncts that was fermented with a mixed culture of Brett, Sach, Lacto and Pedo. A true labor of love! His BOS trophy is the middle one in the above photograph.
Also getting awards were Darren Vaughn who won silver in the Belgian & French Ale category with his Saison. Yours truly won a gold for my “Mad Elf” Fruit Beer (Belgian Dark strong with sweet and tart cherries) and a bronze for my “Anything Gose” (Gose with rhubarb) in the Fruit and SHV Beer category. As well, I won a silver for my “Nothing Under the Kilt” Wee Heavy and my “Weiss Ass” Dunkels Weissbier.
