SUMMARY:June Meeting and FOAM Picnic
DESCRIPTION:Our meeting for June is the Picnic being held once again at Tim McCracken’s place on Saturday on June 27th. Due to the unpredictable heat in June the picnic will start at 6pm. (There is not a Thursday meeting at Hope Church!)\n\nWe will party till everyone goes home or Tim kicks us out. \nFOAM will be providing brisket smoked by Cody Cannon! \nEach member may bring 1 guest. Please plan to bring homebrew\, a side dish or dessert\, homebrew\, yard games\, homebrew and you may want to bring lawn chairs. There is patio seating and a couple of picnic tables\, but it may fill up. \nDid we mention to bring some homebrew beer? You can also bring other interesting beverages. Tim will have plenty of bottled water available. \nWe are asking everyone that is planning on attending to fill out a Google Form letting us know what side dish you are bringing and who your guest will be so we can get an idea of how much brisket to smoke. Click here to fill out the form. \nThere will be some room to park in the driveway\, space for 2-4 cars in the cul-de-sac\, or park along Forest Ridge Blvd or Ashton. (Please allow plenty of room around the fake guard shack on Ashton for two-way traffic.) SUMMARY:July Meeting - Mash Your Luck Judging
DESCRIPTION:Fellow FOAMers\, the gauntlet has been thrown. We have 7 teams participating in this year’s Mash Your Luck Club Competition\, and we will be judging them at the July meeting.  \nFor those new to FOAM\, here’s how it works… We take 5 basic categories of brewing beer and spin for each team to determine what criteria for each category each team should meet for making the Mash Your Luck Beer. After we spin for each category\, teams have the option of taking a mulligan on one category and re-spin. Teams will be required to fill out a form describing their beer before the judging in July. \nThe winner will determined by popular vote. \nIt’s our August meeting and you know what that means?\nIt’s mead month and it’s time to judge this year’s Who Mead it Better entries! \nHere’s how it works:\nParticipants will receive a set amount of honey and will be told to add an additional ingredient (e.g. blueberries) to be named by the competition organizers. \nParticipants bring 2 bottles to the August Mead Meeting. One bottle will be judged at the meeting and the second bottle will be held for an additional year and judged at the next August Mead Meeting. \nLast year’s special ingredient was nutmeg. This year the special ingredient is orange. Any kind of orange. \nWe will have 2-3 special judges to determine the winners and then the bottles will be brought out for everyone to try.
